Transfer and Re-Enrolled Students General Education Credit Waivers
Each semester, our General Education Center accepts applications for waiving general education credits. Due to the significant differences in course content and requirements across institutions, students applying for credit waivers must complete the "University Core Curriculum Credit Waiver Application Form" in the waiver system within the specified deadline. The printed form must be signed and submitted along with the original transcript, the course syllabus, or supporting documents from the previous institution (with the official seal of the offering department). These materials should be sent to our General Education Center. Late submissions will not be accepted. For detailed guidelines, please refer to the "113-1 Semester Transfer Student University Core (General Education) Credit Waiver Notes."
University core (general education) credit waivers are categorized into five areas: Language Education, Service Learning, Physical Education, Information Technology, and Elective Core Courses. Waivers in each category must not exceed the required credits for that category. Students who have already passed courses in Physical Education, Military Training, or Service Learning without earning credits before transferring or enrolling may apply for exemptions but must still meet the minimum core curriculum credit requirements for graduation.
Exchange Students General Education Credit Waivers
To encourage students to explore diverse learning opportunities based on their personal interests, subjects and credits earned through approved overseas studies, exchanges, internships, or dual-degree programs may also be eligible for credit waivers.
Credits from courses taken at overseas universities recognized by the Ministry of Education are converted based on the hours of instruction and course content. The following are the principles for credit conversion:
-
ECTS Credits (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System, excluding UK universities):
Credits are calculated as half of the ECTS credits, rounded to the nearest whole number. -
CATS Credits (Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme in the UK):
Credits are calculated as one-fourth of the CATS credits, rounded to the nearest whole number. -
US, Japanese, or Chinese Credit Systems:
These credits can be converted directly.
If no corresponding university core (general education) course credit waiver can be applied, students may apply for "Recognition of Overseas Exchange Course Credits" as per the regulations. Link to application process: https://aa.ndhu.edu.tw/files/14-1006-22289,r1067-1.php?Lang=zh-tw
